Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced the holding of workshops on the concepts of Geopark and Geoproduct in three villages of Qeshm Island.

According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Zone Organization, AliReza Amri Kazemi stated this news and added: The workshops were held June 18-20, in conjunction with the introduction of the concepts of Geopark, Geoproduct, and local handicraft production training in the Kani, Guran, and Chahu Sharqi villages.

Referring to a comprehensive plan for infrastructure development and balancing in different parts of the island, he continued: Workshops are being held in order to develop geosites in the west of Qeshm Island, with the aim of focusing on the local potentialities and indigenous people of these areas.

Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark said: The first period of these workshops, related to the training of salt candle making, was held for students of Kani village, near the Salt Cave.

Salt candle is one of the initiatives of Qeshm Global Geopark, which has been welcomed by the world.

Amri Kazemi Added: The second workshop of manufacture of jewels and wood products, in the Guran village, is in line with the use of wooden waste resulting from the activity of Launch building units of the region.

He continued: The third workshop was the training of handicraft packaging in the direction of standardization, branding, and better introduction of handicrafts and local products in the Chahu Sharqi village.

Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, referring to the importance of holding workshops for geoproducts in Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, added: The preservation of the natural and historical context of the region, as well as job creation and income generation for local communities, is the most important goal of Qeshm Island UNESCO global geopark management, from holding workshops on the concepts of geopark and geoproduct in the villages of the island.

Amri Kazemi finally said that the recognition of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark provides the development of tourism into international level, and as a result, the economic development and employment of a large part of the island's natives, along with the proper care of a lasting cultural heritage based on UNESCO's international standards.
