Unesco Global Geopark
The Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced the holding the ceremony of World Day to Combat Desertification with the Slogan "Let's Grow the Future Together ", with the Participation of 30 students from the Dulab Village.
According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm free Zone Organization, AliReza Amrikazemi Stated: This ceremony was held in the Dulab village, in cooperation with the Department of Urban and Rural Affairs of the Qeshm Free Zone Organization.
He added that planting several seedlings by students, and organizing a training seminar focusing on the importance of this day, and dangers that threaten global societies because of Desertification, was among the actions taken at the celebration of World Day against Desertification and Drought.
The Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark continued: The World Day Against Desertification and the effects of drought is a special day in the global calendar, which can remind everyone of the importance of this day.
It is worth mentioning that this ceremony, was held this year with the Slogan "Let's Make the Future Together ", with the participation of students at the site of the Geopark World Center of Qeshm in Dulab Village.
In 1994, the UN General Assembly named June 17 as World Day Against Desertification, in order to raise public awareness in this regard, and to pursue more seriously the plans of the Convention. To date, 195 countries are members of this
