Community Participation Advances Tourism and Natural Heritage Conservation at Qeshm's Namakdan Cave

The Director of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts at Qeshm Free Zone Organization announced the successful implementation of a community-based initiative to clean Namakdan Cave during World Tourism Week, reflecting an approach that integrates tourism with the conservation of natural heritage.

Community participation and the active involvement of children in programmes to safeguard Qeshm Island's natural heritage have been among the key factors behind the island's success in ecotourism and the development of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark.

The Director also announced that students from villages in the western part of the island, nature enthusiasts, and Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark partners participated in Namakdan Cave clean-up programme held to mark World Tourism Week. He noted that the participation of 80 volunteers reflected both the success of public awareness efforts and the island community's strong commitment to safeguarding Qeshm's unique natural heritage.

The clean-up programme was accompanied by educational activities highlighting the significance of Namakdan Salt Complex Geosite and the importance of its conservation. Participants also received geoproducts presented by Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
