Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, the only Geopark registered in the UNESCO International Geoparks Network in the Middle East
Mahin Gazani, Head of the Science Department of the National Commission of Iranians of UNESCO, referred to the Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark as the only geopark registered in the UNESCO International Geoparks Network in the Middle East.
According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Area Organization, Mahin Gazani, At the first international conference and UNESCO World-Geo-Parks Development Training-specialized Workshop, said: Qeshm Island UNESCO global Geopark,is the only geopark registered in the UNESCO International Geopark Network in Iran and the Middle East.

According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Area Organization, Mahin Gazani, At the first international conference and UNESCO World-Geo-Parks Development Training-specialized Workshop, said: Qeshm Island UNESCO global Geopark,is the only geopark registered in the UNESCO International Geopark Network in Iran and the Middle East.
She expressed her pleasure in choosing the Qeshm island as the host of the first international conference and UNESCO World-Geo-Parks Development Training-specialized Workshop, and added: In our country, 30 potential regions are identified based on UNESCO indicators for connecting to the global network that can benefit from the experience of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
Head of the Science Department of the National Commission of Iranians of UNESCO continued: The Tabas and Aras area are ready to study and we hope that the registration of these areas will be achieved this year.
Mahin Gazani expressed her hope for the establishment of a UNESCO global Geoparks Development Center in the Middle East, West Asia and Central Asia region, on Qeshm Island, saying: With regard to the support of the authorities and the talks with UNESCO, we hope that the establishment of this center will be provided on Qeshm Island, and this selection will be instrumental in playing an effective role for our country at the 9th UNESCO Geopark Conference in 2020.
