On the occasion of World Children's Day, a special programme entitled "Children and Namakdan Cave" will be held in Kani Village by Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
According to Qeshm Media Centre, the programme will focus on educating and raising awareness among children about the importance of safeguarding Namakdan Cave and the role they can play in protecting this world natural heritage site.
Announcing the event, Ebrahim Rostam Gurani, Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, stated that its objective is to foster a meaningful connection between children and the Island's geological phenomena from an early age, while introducing them to the principles of nature conservation and geoheritage protection.
He added that Namakdan Cave is one of the most prominent geosites of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark and attracts a large number of domestic and international visitors each year. Therefore, educating children and encouraging their participation in safeguarding this valuable natural asset is of particular importance.
The programme, organised in cooperation with one of the institutions within the Geopark Partners Network, will feature a painting competition, a storytelling session on the theme "Me and Namakdan Cave", and a variety of engaging educational activities designed to familiarise children with the Island's natural and environmental values.
In conclusion, Rostam Gurani emphasised the importance of community-based education in advancing the objectives of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, noting that by strengthening children's sense of belonging and responsibility towards their environment, the Island's natural heritage can be more effectively safeguarded for future generations.
