The Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark has announced the annual "Chi Chaka Hara" ceremony to be held in Soheili Village, stating that the event aims to promote environmental awareness and familiarise children with the ecological importance of Hara mangrove forests.
According to Qeshm Free Zone Media Centre, Dr Ebrahim Rostam Gurani said that, as part of the programme, children will collect and plant Hara mangrove seeds and care for them over a three-month period.
He added that the ceremony has evolved into a valuable local tradition, attracting the active participation of the local community and visitors each year.
The Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark emphasised that events of this kind reflect the strong collaboration between the local community, Qeshm Free Zone Organization, and national and international institutions in safeguarding the island's natural and cultural heritage.
This year's "Chi Chaka Hara" ceremony will take place on Thursday, 4 September 2025, at 4:30 p.m., at Soheili Tourist Jetty and Hara Observation Centre.
