At the specialised seminar "The Interplay of Culture and Trade in the Persian Gulf Region", the Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark emphasised that UNESCO Global Geoparks bring science closer to people, fostering learning and knowledge exchange.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Qeshm Free Zone Organization, Sajjad Eshgarf announced the launch of a series of specialised seminars entitled "Geopark Conversations". He explained that UNESCO Global Geoparks are not museums but dynamic models of territorial management that promote science by bringing it closer to local communities, thereby contributing to sustainable development.

He welcomed the fact that the first seminar in the "Geopark Conversations" series, entitled "The Interplay of Culture and Trade in the Persian Gulf Region", coincided with the publication of the book Politics and Trade in Fars. He added that the participation of Dr Mansour Sefat Gol, faculty member at the University of Tehran, and Dr Abdolrasoul Kheirandish, faculty member at Shiraz University, together with the launch of the book by Dr Ahmad Bazmandegan Khamiri, made for a strong start to the seminar series.

Dr Abdolrasoul Kheirandish, faculty member at Shiraz University, presented a lecture on the historical relations between Iran's southern regions and the Persian Gulf, as well as trade exchanges and the maritime economy from the Safavid through the Zand period.

Dr Mansour Sefat Gol, faculty member at the University of Tehran, expressed concern over the limited research on local merchants and the commercial life of the period, and emphasised the need for further research to shed greater light on their contribution to the economic development of the Persian Gulf during the twelfth century AH. He also explored the impact of political developments on trading practices.
