Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced the results of the painting competition that has been held to celebrate World Children’s Day.

Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced the results of the painting competition that has been held to celebrate World Children’s Day.

Alireza Amri Kazemi, according to the Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Area Organization, stated: the painting competition where participants could choose any subject matter and any technique was held in accordance with Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark’s goals by the management in order to introduce the attractions and the heritage of this outstanding geopark.

150 paintings were submitted by children and students from different parts of the island and top works were selected.

He added that Mahani Salehi Nezhad Koovei, a recognized artist from Qeshm, judged the submitted artworks based on creativity in subject, technique, colorology and the age of the participants.

Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark pointed out that after final judgment 20 participants were selected and awarded as top artists.

As stated by Amri Kazemi, an innovative approach in introducing the attractions of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark was taken into consideration resulting in programs that encourage children and students to actively participate as Geopark Ambassadors.

He also emphasized that the aim of the competition was to contribute to the promotion of the geosites, features and attractions as well as safeguarding the cultural, natural, geological and intangible heritage of this astonishing island.
