Geotourism Development between two global geoparks of Qeshm and Spain

Managers of Qeshm UGGp and Villuercas Ibores Jara UGGp signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of Geotourism development at the Fitur (International Tourism Fair) in Madrid.


Managers of Qeshm UGGp and Villuercas Ibores Jara UGGp signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of Geotourism development at the Fitur (International Tourism Fair) in Madrid.

The memorandum was signed by two Geopark executives in the presence of Hamid Reza Momeni, Chairman of the Directors' board and CEO of Qeshm Free Zone Area and Governor of Cáceres, Spain, with the aim of Geotourism Development and collaboration on expertise and technical and practical measures. Exchange of information, experiences, the involvement of local communities, development of handicraft export issues produced by local artists, and tourism exchange between two Geoparks are other provisions of this Memorandum.

It is worth mentioning; Villuercas Ibores Jara UGGp is one of the fifteen Geoparks of Spain that became a member of Global Geoparks in 2011. This Geopark, with a population of more than 14,000 and 3500 square kilometer land area, has already registered 50 geosites.
