According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Zone Organization, Director of Qeshm global Geopark said: The UNESCO National Commission is the official liaison between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and UNESCO , which has various specialized groups, including various committees, which one of them is the National Committee on Geosciences and Geoparks.

Concerning the composition of the National Committee on Geosciences and Geoparks of the National Commission for UNESCO, Alireza Amri Kazemi stated: In Iran, all organizations, institutions and bodies related to geosciences and geoparks are members of this committee, and the chairman of the Geological Survey, and the deputy minister of industry, mining, and commerce, is responsible of this committee.

He added: The task of the UNESCO National Committee on Geosciences and Geoparks is to oversee, review, collaborate and develop the geoparks in different parts of the country, and this committee is responsible for sending Iranian cases to UNESCO for world registration, and in the future, all discussions of national geoparks will be discussed in this committee.

Director of Qeshm global Geopark stressed the importance of being a member of this committee: The presence of a representative of Qeshm Free Zone Organization and Qeshm Global Geopark as Vice Chairman of this committee can confirm the strategic and central role of Qeshm Free Zone Organization in the development of Iranian and regional geoparks.

It is worth mention that at the last meeting of the National Committee of Geosciences and Geoparks of the National Commission of UNESCO of Iran, the agenda of the meeting was to elect Board of Directors, which based on the votes cast by the members of the committee on the vice chairman, in the Department of GeoSciences, Dr. Ghorbani and in the section

Geoparks, Engineer Amri Kazemi, were elected by an absolute majority of votes.
