Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark Directorate has called for the participation of local communities in the development of infrastructure and promotion of the geosites of the west of the Island.

In order to develop a balanced infrastructure and develop geotourism in the west of the island, in 2018, a plan for the development of geosites of the west of island was drafted by Geopark management.

He announced the visit of a team of geopark management experts from villages and geosites of west of the island, and saying: The focus of this region of the island has been taken with the policy of benefiting all regions from the benefits Qeshm's global geopark registration, and the authorities of the western villages are ready to participate and cooperation in this field.

Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark with emphasis on the important role of villagers added: The local community, as the executive arm of this development, is implementing the proposed programs by overseeing and supporting Qeshm  Island UNESCO global geopark management.

Amiri Kazemi continued: Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark is ready to provide some of the necessary facilities and With the Scheduled planning for the villages, we hope the whole island will benefit from this development.

According to him, the Guran, Dulab, Doostkou, Kani, Basira and Moradi villages on the west of the island are the target villages in this development project.

Director of the Geopark of Qeshm, referring to the visit from the Koorkoora Kooh geosite, located in the Giyahdan village, said: It is also on the agenda to formulate a plan for organizing this geosite, and attracting the participation of the local community of Giyahdan village.

According to the report, Geopark is an area where its boundaries are clearly identified, and several significant geological phenomena are within its range and The geological heritage of that area is maintained with careful and permanent management and that scope should play an effective role in the economic development of the societies around them.

In addition to geological phenomena, Geopark also has historical, ecological, archeological, and other cultural and natural heritage,that Qeshm Geopark has all the features mentioned.
