According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Zone Organization, Alireza Amri Kazemi, on Saturday at a meeting with Hamideh Zarabadi, representative of the Qazvin people in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and Governor of this city Mohammad Shafiyi, at the building of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, announced the readiness of Qeshm Global Geopark for the presentation of the Geopark Executive Program in Alamut area of Qazvin.

Referring to the responsibility of the Geoparks of the country to Qeshm Global Geopark, he added: Based on the important task of UNESCO, we are ready to provide expert assistance and advice to various parts of the country to create a Geopark, including in Alamut of Qazvin.

Director of Qeshm global Geopark expressed his hope that by creating a geopark in Alamut Qazvin and other parts of our country, we will introduce the valuable tourist destination of Iran in the world Geoparks.

Referring to the increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting from Geosites of Global Geopark of Qeshm, he continued: I am confident that by introducing the tourism capacities of Iran in the form of Geopark, we will see more trips of foreign tourists to different parts of our country.

In this meeting, Hamideh Zarabadi referred to the Geosites of the only Geopark of the Middle East in Qeshm, as a unique capacity in the field of tourism.

He expressed his hope that with the cooperation and good advice of Qeshm Global Geopark Director, we could build the second Geopark of our country in Qazvin based on the capacities in the Alamut area.

A UNESCO definition of global geopark is a unified area with a geological heritage of international significance.[2] Geoparks use that heritage to promote awareness of key issues facing society in the context of our dynamic planet. Many geoparks promote awareness of geological hazards, including volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis and many help prepare disaster mitigation strategies with local communities. And promotes the economic well-being of the people who live there.

In addition to the official definition of UNESCO, it can be said that geopark is a region with its main feature, the presence of high geosites, nature and the rich environment, attractive cultural features, and most importantly, the participation and active presence of local communities in programs development, protection, and sustainability.
