A memorandum of cooperation has been signed by the director of Qeshm Global Geopark and the General Department of Public Libraries of Hormozgan Province.

According to the public relations and international affairs of the Qeshm Free Zone Area, Sajjad Eshgarf stated that implementing this memorandum will promote and introduce Qeshm Global Geoparks to members of libraries across Qeshm Island.

He continued that acquainting and improving the knowledge of librarians, library members, students, researchers, and visitors with the concept of Geopark and the goals of Qeshm Global Geopark, as well as familiarity with the concepts of geology and Qeshm geosites, are some most significant goals of this memorandum endorsement.

According to Mr. Eshgarf, Qeshm Global Geopark is the first UNESCO Global Geopark in the Middle East and Iran. The entire Qeshm Island, the mangrove forests located in the north of Qeshm, and Hengam Island in the south have been registered as the boundaries of this global geopark in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.

The director of Qeshm Global Geopark noted that, this Geopark is one of the significant capacities of the country and the region to attract tourists due to its history and successful experiences, especially in the field of attracting participation and companionship of the local community.

Amineh Daryanavard, the general manager of public libraries of Hormozgan province, also said that the introduction of the Geopark Assistant plan and registering active members of Qeshm libraries to participate in festivals and educational workshops are the subjects of this memorandum.

She also stated that providing a suitable space to hold educational and cultural courses in all libraries of Qeshm Island, as well as the cooperation of the Qeshm Public Library in organizing educational workshops with Geopark experts, are among the other subjects of this collaborative memorandum.

The duration of this memorandum is one year after its conclusion, but if the parties agree, it can be renewed or extended.
