According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Zone Organization, Alireza Amri Kazemi stated: Geopark concept implementation in ECO countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, was discussed with the presence of the head of the UNESCO Cultural Institute in Tehran.
Referring to UNESCO's delegated responsibility to Qeshm's Global Geopark for creating new geoparks in Iran and the countries of the region, he added: This meeting was hold on aimed at expanding the role of Qeshm's global Geopark in decision making on the creation of geoparks in ECO countries.
According to Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, head of the ECO Culture Institute, called for the creation of Qeshm's global geopark for geoparks in the region, as a special privilege for Iran.
He also called for more meetings, with the participation of cultural and tourism officials from member countries, at the ECO Culture Institute in Tehran or one of the member states.
It is worth noting that the first Middle East geopark is located on Qeshm Island, with extraordinary geocytes such as the longest salt cave in the world, Valley and Strait of Chahkuh, Stars Valley, Naaz Islands, Harra sea forests, Qeshm Roof, Dolphin bay, and Hawksbill sea turtle Oviposition site.
