The 11th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference has commenced in Chile with the participation of leading scientific and executive figures of the Global Geoparks Network.


The 11th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference has commenced in Chile with the participation of leading scientific and executive figures of the Global Geoparks Network.

The biennial event is being held in Chile with the participation of representatives from more than 40 UNESCO Global Geopark member countries, including Iran, represented by Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, Aras UNESCO Global Geopark and Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark.

The conference provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance scientific cooperation in the field of geoparks. It can also play an important role in strengthening the international standing of Iran's UNESCO Global Geoparks.

It is worth noting that, alongside the conference, an exhibition showcasing the achievements of UNESCO Global Geopark members will be held, together with workshops focusing on conservation and research, local sustainable development and geotourism, education, tangible and intangible cultural heritage in indigenous communities and climate change. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the geosites of kütralkura UNESCO Global Geopark.
