Director of Qehm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced the winners of Dokhtolouk Dollmaking Competition that has been held to celebrate World Children’s Day through making traditional dolls named Dokhtolouk that are considered as one of the local symbols of the island and Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark.

Alireza Amri Kazemi, according to the Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Area Organization, stated: The judges selected 10 best dolls of all the entries as top winners.
He continued: Using traditional methods in making dolls, variety in color and pattern, innovation and creativity in design and production, exhibiting the artistry of women and reviving customs and traditions were the most influential criteria based on which the dolls were judged.
As pointed out by Amri Kazemi, the objective of the contest was to contribute to the introduction and better recognition of customs and traditions of the island and reviving local games.
He emphasized that the competition also aimed at attracting public attention to the significance of reviving the intangible heritage of Qeshm with the focus on Qeshm Isalnd UNESCO Global Geopark’s territory.
He added selected dolls in the competition will be kept in the children department of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark’s Museum and top winners will be awarded.
The judges selected Ameneh and Fatemeh Rezvani (as a group), Sedigheh Eshaghi, and Mahsa Saberi as top three winners. Asal Bazmandegan, Asiyeh Hormozi, Faezeh Azad, Hosna Eslami, Fatemeh Khoshk Rish, Maryam Bermeh and Adeleh Taki Zadeh were also announced as top winners.
